Builth Wells Golf Club’s Open Weekend of 2024 began with the Cumberland Cup Team of Four competition; the format was politely described as a ‘shambles’ - all 4 drive (4 drives per player required), pick the best drive, players then play their own ball out with 2 scores to count, stableford, 85% handicap allowance.
40 teams (160 players) took part with players from clubs in Liverpool, Leicestershire, West Midlands and some as far a field as Dubai!!
Day 2 saw the four ball better ball stableford, 85% handicap being played; the ladies playing for the Manchester Trophy, the men playing for the Jim Downs Memorial Cup.
176 players took part, another excellent turn out from clubs all over the UK.

Day 3 was the Hugh Vaughan Mixed Greensomes; 6 drives per player, 1/2 combined handicap, medal.
Prizes were awarded for both nett and gross competitions.
Team of three, Men or Ladies, No mixed teams. Stableford, 90% handicap allowance. Handicap Limit: Men – 28; Ladies – 36. Entry Fee: Visitors £15.00 per player. CDH numbers will be required.
